Personal Counseling
Personal Counseling
 
The personal counseling component of the St. Scholastica Academy counseling department has the responsibility to facilitate the development of attitudes, knowledge, and interpersonal skills providing students the opportunity to foster self understanding, self respect, and respect for others.
 
 
Individual Counseling
  1. Counselors are available to meet with students individually to guide them in personal matters and to help students create a mindset maximizing their ability to learn.
  2. Counselors conduct appropriate interventions when students are in need.
  3. Counselors will act as mediators and student advocates when dealing with school administration, faculty, as well as personal relationships.
  4. Counselors will contact parent or guardians when necessary.
  5. Counselors will make referrals to outside agencies when necessary.
  6. Counselors will guard the confidentiality of students and parents or guardians within the boundaries of ethical counseling standards.
 
Prevention
  1. Counselors will participate in the development of faculty education opportunities on topics relevant to adolescent development.
  2. Counselors will provide education to students on issues relating to their physical and mental well being.
